Hello Dave,
There is definitely a chance that it could simply be the weather that the tree is experiencing. However, if it does seem like an unusually large number of leaves it'd be good to get the tree looked at. You can bring a sample of your tree to your local extension office. The staff there can look at the tree and, if necessary, send it to the UK Plant Diagnostic laboratory in Lexington. The sample that you bring in should be a small branch with leaves still attached. Ideally, their should be leaves that look reasonably healthy as well as those that look like they are drying and browning. Below is a website that you can use to find your county office information.
