Cucumber problem #879084

Asked July 28, 2024, 9:52 AM EDT

Yes, can you please tell me why my cucumbers appear white on the vine. If you look close in the picture, they are actually oozing water through their skin. I have other cucumbers on this plant that are green, but they sometimes have a tan scar on them and I will include pictures. I just came back from a one week vacation and the plants are not producing fruit which they weren’t when I left. I fertilized weekly with a 20-20-20 fertilizer as well as bonemeal, a 511 Fish fertilizer and a 346 tomato tone. My cucumbers are in 20 gallon fabric containers with a motion control miracle grow potting soil

Expert Response

Hi Karen, thanks for the question.

White cucumbers can happen for various reasons such as overwatering, blanching (low light on fruit), pests, et al.  There are even white cucumber varieties. In your case, lack of light on the fruit or possibly a nutrient imbalance considering the complex of fertilizers being used.

I hope this is helpful.
