Azaleas Dying #879083

Asked July 28, 2024, 9:40 AM EDT

For the last three years, I've bought a White Lights azalea from the Friends Plant sale. Each year, it hasn't survived the winter and during the summer, the leaves have gradually looked diseased and yellow. The other two I planted three years ago come back but haven't increased in size and haven't bloomed since the first year. Wondering if there's a disease or soil issue. Thank you for your help!

Hi Emily,

That's frustrating. I haven't had good luck either. They really like acidic soil and I'm guessing that's a big part of your problem. It's quite hard to acidify your soil ( not as simple as just adding something).

I'm really not sure what the problem is but, I think it might be more than one thing.  It might be a whole lot easier to replace them with something that does well in your area.
