Winter growing #879082

Asked July 28, 2024, 9:19 AM EDT

Hello, I am wanting to get an early start on my food production for next year. I want to start growing something in the next couple months or fall for early spring. I don’t want to be actively harvesting through the winter the growing area is to far away to be there more than once a week or ever other week. Considering the above what can I grow in the winter here in the NW for early spring into the summer?

Hi Kwame and thanks for your great question about what you can plant now and in September to harvest late fall and into next spring. I'm going to send you to a great resource for all kinds of gardening questions, but specifically go down to the section called "Dates for Planting." We are region 2, so go to that column and it will tell when you can plant each crop, when to start plants indoors if you want to do that and what the spacing should be for the plants.

So glad you are getting into the "year-round-gardening" group. It's great to eat fresh all year long!
