Sour Cherry Tree #879081

Asked July 28, 2024, 9:04 AM EDT

Hello~~ My healthy looking 10 year sour cherry tree did not produce any cherry this year. Instead, the cherries remained tiny, turned brown and dried up. We do not spray our tree. My husband used to but the last several years we did not as I did not want the chemicals. What can I do to ensure the tree produces fruit next year. Thanks so much, Sonia

What's causing the fruit to dry up must be determined before steps to ensure a crop next year can be recommended.

To confirm or rule out disease, consider taking or sending samples of affected fruit to the University of Minnesota Plant Disease Clinic.  Affected fruit may no longer present, so doing that may not be possible until next year.  But perhaps next year's crop will develop normally so that won't be necessary.
