Golden currant leaves curled & shriveled #879050

Asked July 27, 2024, 6:17 PM EDT

Selected & typically new leaves of my golden currant are curled & shriveled. There are small white flecks on the underneath side of the leaves, but nothing obviously moving/alive.

Expert Response

The white appears to be cast skins from aphids that your plant had (or has). Aphids can cause foliage to curl. Aphids can sometimes be blown off a plant with a jet of water or you can treat the plant with horticultural oil before it leafs out in the spring.

Here is some information for you:

You are also welcome to bring a sample branch from your plant for us to take a look at. We are located within the Mesa County Fairgrounds and are open 8am-5pm. If you do come in, let staff/volunteer know that your contact is #772.
