Hi My friend sent this pic. Any idea of what this is? She lives in NYC. I’m here in VT.

It's a bit tricky to tell without a photo of the leaves and full plant, but this appears to be some variety of canna lily.

Canna lilies do best in moist, well-drained soils in full sun. Many canna lilies are about 3-5 ft tall, and they typically have large, glossy leaves.
