It could be leaf scorch because temps were in the nineties yesterday or a water problem of either too much or two little. Either causes leaf death. Check the soil around the tree for moisture. Water if it’s dry and wait to water and pull away mulch if it’s wet. Check soil moisture amounts daily around saplings.
