Expert Response

Hello and thank you for reaching out to OSU Extension. I am the Agriculture and Natural Resources Educator in Lucas County and cover a wide variety topics in this position.

I have recently seen the coverage on the local news about this ditch cleaning project, and am trying to get caught up and learn more about the current situation.

But away from that, I can help determining the soil type. Do you have a pond? Has there been soil taken off site, or brought onsite? How long has your house been there? Do you have a basement?

I look forward to helping be a local resource - Amy

Good morning. Thank you for your response and sorry for my delay in response and calls and inquiries about the spotted lanternfly and other seasonal horticultural questions. I will be looking at the soil maps and have included the link below.

Additionally, you can do a soil test which will test the soil and results will be specific to your site. Soil test kits from Penn State are available at our office at OSU at Toledo Botanical Garden, and the local Soil and Water Conservation District Office for $12 plus tax.
