Best Treatment for Old Lilacs with blight #878946

Is it best to prune all the way to the ground and start fresh? Or treat with copper spray next spring? Both?

The problem with trimming back older bushes to the ground is the possibility they will stress too much.

I think I’d wait to spray in spring. Please follow label instructions. Be aware that they may not pull through.
