Sick Blueberries? #878918

Asked July 26, 2024, 2:14 PM EDT

Land County. Florence, Oregon I have six blueberry bushes about 8 years old. This year I notice some leaves have turned brown (but not shriveled) - some of them half brown, half green. Looks bad to me. Do you know of a cause? )-:m

Expert Response

Blueberries are very shallow rooted. They need acid soil and do not tolerate dry soil well, but also need good drainage. We are seeing much damage due to the extraordinary winds and heat, though less of the latter on the coast. You can actually shade the plants during the worst of the weather with good effect. If the problem progresses, please send a photo of the plants and their environment.
