Magnolia scale #878910

Asked July 26, 2024, 1:40 PM EDT

I have a mature magnolia tree approx. 30ft tall and 40ft wide. I have a magnolia scale infestation and am currently pruning the tree back to 15 ft x 20 ft . This should make the tree more manageable for spraying with an insecticide. What type of insecticide should I use and do you have any further recommendations? Thank you in advance for your help.

Expert Response

Yup, you are correct, I believe your magnolia has a scale infection.
I found some very good articles on how to treat scale, as well as a treatment plan. I hope these help!

and

both of the articles should help.
Good luck with the treatment plan and I know it is tough to see a beautiful tree with a disease!
