Earwigs or Japanese beetles? #878876

Asked July 26, 2024, 11:24 AM EDT

Hello, Can you tell me what pest is doing this to my zinnia and potato vine? They are in irrigated planters with a western exposure in South Minneapolis. Thank you!

Expert Response

Hello Sara, happy to help.

It's not the work of Japanese beetles because the leaves do not have the typical skeletonized appearance. It could be earwigs but it also can be the work of slugs or snails.

I've added links to information about each pest to help you determine which it is and how to manage them.

Good-luck!
