pruning an Aunt Dee wisteria #878837

Asked July 26, 2024, 8:27 AM EDT

I think I planted the wisteria about 10 years ago. It is out of control. I really do not know how to prune it. If you have a recommendation of someone who knows how to prune it, I would love that. I am getting too old to be on a ladder doing it myself.

Thank you for writing.
I would love to see a picture of your plant.  These plants go mad.
You will be pruning it often and forever--consider whether you want to have it removed. Alas.
Prune now and in Feb.  https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/wisteria/pruning-guide
Your best bet is to hire a gardener who is familiar with pruning this plant. ASK before you make an appt. Check your neighborhood newspaper, the ads in https://northerngardener.org/what-we-do/northern-gardener-magazine/
I cannot find any specific gardeners for this. Unfortunately, many gardening companies are not interested in servicing a single plant.
Steve, you asked for a picture of the wisteria.  This is from June 4th. It usually blooms twice a year.

Thank you.  I suggest you try to find a gardener who knows Wisteria.  There is no emergency here.  You may have to wait for an appointment/
