Asked July 25, 2024, 3:35 PM EDT

I have a maple tree that is loosing bark is suspicious way. Looks like beaver damage but way big up in the tree. Anything I can do to save my tree?

Expert Response

From this photo I am unable to tell what could be causing the damage. It's possible that portions of the tree are dying and the bark is flaking off. It is also possible that animals are pulling it off while attempting to forage for insects. Both could indicate dieback. I would recommend having an arborist assist the overall health of the tree. You can find local arborists through the site treesaregood.org
