Expert Response
Hello,
Those are not caterpillars and are millipedes. They are decomposers that feed on decaying plant matter or other organic matter in or on the soil. They are typically found under stones, pieces of wood or possibly something that has rested on the ground for some time. They do not damage anything and only feed on things which helps recycle things back into the environment. No treatment needed.
