Is my pagoda dogwood diseased? #878713

Someone recently pointed out these formations on the bark of my pagoda dogwood. Is it a sign of disease? Despite the marks, the leaves higher up the limb seem to be doing just fine. There are no yellow bumps, so I don't think it's golden canker.

I suspect but cannot confirm dogwood anthracnose, a fungal disease.
