Hi. We have a vine that is expanding along the edges of our woods. Leaves are spade shaped, serrated and alternate. Red roots. Orange berries form in the fall. I’m wondering if it’s an invasive. Can you ID it?

It appears you have Oriental Bittersweet (Celastarus orbiculatus) growing on your property, and it is, indeed, invasive. It can be extremely harmful to trees when the vines invade and eventually overtake an area.
From your description, I cannot tell how much of the surrounding woods have been invaded or if it possible to contain the infestation.
I have sited three websites below that describe the plant and how it grows, plus possible ways to control its survival.

The following site is from the U.S. Forest Service and is quite extensive and may be more than you want to know. I suggest you scroll down close to the end of the artical to the the "Control"section.

I hope you have some success in managing this undesirable plant.

I did read a bit about it and have been uprooting young plants as I find them. There is not a lot on my property but neighbors have a lot more.

I am happy to hear you are on top of the problem. Quick action is the best way to keep the vine in check. If you can, please share the information with your neighbors. I know that is not always possible.
