Hi Melody,
Currently we are not recommending any electric pressure cooker/canner models. Electric programmable pressure cookers (like Instant Pot, for instance) are designed to heat up  and cool down quickly so they are great for making dinner on a short time line. Research shows that the longer cool down times in traditional pressure canners is when the last 30% of the Clostridium botulinum spores are killed. The food processed in pressure cookers will be under-processed and risky for botulism.

We are waiting for some 3rd party testing to determine safety of equipment marketed as electric pressure canners at all elevations. Some of our clients have noticed that the ones they have purchased do not get to up to the proper temperature when they have tried to use them.

All electric boiling water canners are safe to use. Ball has two types on the market. One has a temperature dial and the other, a newer model with a digital face was introduced in 2023. We noticed that it is hard to hold the temperature dial model at 180 to 185 degrees F to process cucumber pickles with low-temperature pasteurization. Otherwise is works well.
