Save a Houseplant Broken Off at Base from Roots #878644
Asked July 24, 2024, 6:48 PM EDT
Hello! I have a Spider Plant that is very sentimentally important to me. There were three separate shoots in a pot, and this summer it appears two of the shoots developed root rot. Today I went to take the dead plants out, and re-burt the healthy shoot in the soil, and it broke off at the base from the roots. Is there any hope of saving the plant, and how? The roots are still in the soil.

Take your plant and put it into water. It should reboot itself. It may take a few weeks to do so. Wait until you have a healthy amount of good roots before planting. I do this every year with my spider plants.
