Is it possible to get my soil (local) tested? #878616

Is it possible to get a soil sample tested? If so, how do I do so?

Unfortunately, there is no soil testing servicve located within Southeern Oregon. The closest official testing facility is located in  the Willamette Valley. If you are planning a garden, some careful research into what you are going to plant as far as acid or alkaline preferences, as well as water permeation are key to your success. These factors can be checked by purchasing an inexpensive soil testing kit  (make sure it includes pH testing--for acid /alkaline) Most plants have fertilizer requirements that you can address without a soil test. My response would be diffeent if you were planning a commercial enterprise, a crop you intend to market. or you had some concerning reason to know the exact chemical content of the soil. MMost soils in the Rogue Valley are on the  acid side of neutral, but not extremely so. As you approach the coast, the soils become more
