Crepe Myrtle #878479

Asked July 23, 2024, 5:37 PM EDT

My Crepe Myrtle is losing it's bark. I have had the tree the tree for several years and I don't remember this happening before. Several squirrels are often present in this tree.

Expert Response

Shedding outer bark layers is a normal feature for Crapemyrtle trees (once the wood reaches a certain age, which is why it's not present on young plants) and we don't see any health concerns in the photos.
