Oak wilt #878475

Asked July 23, 2024, 5:22 PM EDT

Can a huge 3’ diameter white oak be cut down on August 12, 2024. My arborist/tree cutter says ‘yes’. Just want to hear it from you. (The tree’s problems are related to the fact that my neighbor, probably 15 years ago, installed an under-house garage and cut all the roots off on one side. Rainbow tree company has been treating it with cambistant for years. It has very significant die back on its huge upper branches, many of which extend over my house and my neighbors house.)

Hennepin County Minnesota

Expert Response

Hi,

You can remove your tree down now. The seasonal restrictions on pruning oaks refer only to trees that remain in the landscape.

Thanks.
