Lilac trees dying? #878442
Asked July 23, 2024, 2:20 PM EDT
My much-loved 40-year set of lilacs have grown into a lovely privacy screen for our screen porch and hang out space for wildlife. In all those years, I’ve never seen this kind of damage and such a fast decline. What is happening to them and can they be saved? We’re having a landscape developer design the area next to these. If they’re not going to make it, we could wrap replacing them with something else into that project.

Expert Response
It looks like lilac blight. The Plant disease clinic can diagnosis it for, sure. All the wet weather has really made it prevalent this year.
