Hello--
I just discovered that some kind of bees has started to colonize a birdhouse in my garden. I don't want to kill them, but I'd like to have them discouraged from homesteading in my small garden, right next to my vegetable garden. I'm not sure if they are honeybees, but they don't look like wasps or yellow jackets, but I could be wrong there. I don't have a smartphone to send you pix. I searched online for bee removal, and it's all pest control companies who will likely exterminate. Any suggestions?

Thanks, Elysabeth,
It could be one of a few different insects. They are certainly not honey bees, which like a cavity around 5-10 gallons in size. I am suspecting bumble bees or one of our social wasp. Regardless of which species, it will be an annual colony and will die out naturally before winter. If you send me some images of the insect I can provide additional information.
