Hello, we have a client that has a long row of lilacs with severe lilac blight. We have been asked to remove them for her. What are the proper steps to dispose of this brush and for stump grinding? I want to reduce the risk of spreading this. Thank you!

Hi,
Thank you for the question.
Lilac blight is a bacterial disease that can be difficult to control because the bacteria can spread easily through wind and rain. Here are some tips for treating lilac blight:
- Prune infected branches. When you notice infected branches, prune them 6–12 inches below the infection into healthy wood. Prune during dry weather and disinfect your tools between cuts with a 10% bleach solution or 70% alcohol. You can burn or bury the pruned branches, but check your local ordinances first.
