perennials for full sun - moist area #878355
Asked July 22, 2024, 11:35 PM EDT
I have an area about 2' x 24' that gets water from an irrigation system in my neighbor's grass. I have removed my grass and I am doing rocks and low water use ground cover in the rest of the area. The entire area (13'x24') gets sun at least 6 hours per day. What perennials would work well in this continuously moist (not soggy) area, which is getting the back spray from the adjacent irrigation system?

Hi, Mark,
Thank you for reaching out to the Weld County Master Gardeners with your question.
I would suggest checking out the plant listings on Plant Select and looking for plants that can handle up to moderate water intake. Plant Select in a non-profit organization that is a collaboration between us and Denver Botanic Gardens. They select plants that are well suited for our environment. They don't sell the plants, but can let you know where to find them.
I do suggest downloading the excel sheet of all the plants (button on top right) to more easily scroll through them and see which ones have the right water requirements.

Hope this helps and please let us know if you have any further questions!
