Is This a Tomato Plant Disease? What Should I do? #878338

Asked July 22, 2024, 7:39 PM EDT

About 5 days ago I noticed some yellow bumpy patches on the stalks of one of my three tomato plants. It has now overtaken half of one of them and is spreading to the next. It's down to the base of the plant. The part where it's really bad some of the leaves around it have started to wilt. I'm watering every day. I don't notice any bugs, and I haven't had issues with this soil before. What does this look like to you?

Expert Response

This does not look like a disease or insect issue. It looks more like some sort of physiological reaction by the plant. Are the discolored parts on the sides of the stem facing the sun and exposed to sun (i.e. not protected by leaves?). Are the leaves or fruit showing any symptoms? Is the foliage on the rest of the plant still looking healthy?
