Cottony masses on my apple tree #878282

My apple tree has a white cottony masses grow on the undersides of the limbs and on the trunk. The tree also has a scab, but they seem unrelated. Thanks for your help!

There’s a pest called woolly apple aphid. There’s also a cottony scale insect. A closeup and a mid-range photo will be helpful.
