Substituting Zucchini for Cucumbers #878166

I can only find pickled cucumber recipes mentioning substituting zuchini for cucumbers that include bread & butter pickles.  Would it also be safe to make this substitution using a dill pickle recipe?  If safe can I use sliced, speared, or whole zucchini?

You can substitute spears of zucchini in the dill pickle recipe but I would stick with spears and use the smaller zucchinis.    They will probably be less crisp than cucumbers.  As long as the recipe has at least a 1:1 ratio of vinegar to water it should be safe.
