white pine dying #878110

Asked July 21, 2024, 12:31 PM EDT

I planted this white pine 9/8/23 - was purchased from Gerten's. It looked great this spring - lots of new growth. Then suddenly the needles started to turn brown. I have 2 other small white pines that look fine. We have nice sandy well drained soil and quite a few mature white pines on the property. I attached a picture of the white pine with browning needles and a picture of the truck. I also attached a picture of the white pine that's next to the one in question. What could be happening and what can I do?

Thank you for writing.
This is white pine dieback. https://ag.umass.edu/landscape/fact-sheets/dieback-of-eastern-white-pine

It has fungal, and environmental causes.
Clear away all dead needles and fertilize it. The plant is less than a year in the ground and has a poor root system.
Please check with Gertens, I recall that they have a one year guarantee. A picture will be sufficient to claim.
