Where to find seedlings/slips? #878095
Asked July 21, 2024, 10:31 AM EDT
Hello,
I'm planning for a rather large backyard veggie garden (about 440 square feet total). I plan on doing as much from seed as possible (direct sowing). But I'm a little worried about the cost of buying as many seedlings as I need for the larger plants. I don't have space inside to start that many seedlings indoors. I planted some things in pots this year, but my local nursery and big box stores didn't have much of a variety. Would the farmer's markets offer more? Just looking for advice on where to go for a large selection/variety of all types of veggies. Doesn't have to be specific. Just wasn't sure if there's a source I'm not aware of. Thanks! I'm on the border of Lorain and Cuyahoga counties.

You can get an exceptional variety by ordering on-line. May not be as inexpensive as the big box stores, but the variety is awesome. Search on-line for vegetable seedlings catalogs, you will see Park, Harris, Gurney's, Jung's, Baker's etc. On-line shopping for plants is easy (usually) and the shipping is fast and safe.
