Every day there seem to be more pine cones falling from our 2 loblolly trees.
My research indicates that cones drop between September and December.
These 2 trees have been losing cones all summer with the number steadily increasing.
This is new, but is it a sign of something wrong?

Pines do tend to drop their cones in the fall, but under stress, it can happen earlier. It has been unusually hot and dry for a long time.
In fact, most of the western shore of Maryland is now under moderate to severe drought conditions, which is very stressful for our landscape plants, including big trees:
