Selling Garlic Online #877975

Asked July 19, 2024, 6:56 PM EDT

Hi,

I have a small farm in Kent County growing Garlic and other vegetables. I have had multiple requests to ship garlic and complete the transaction online. Do I need a license to do this?

Also, do I need a license to sell my produce to local grocery stores that will then sell it to their customers?

Thanks

Expert Response

There will be licensing requirements if you want to mail your garlic, this is typically regulated by the FDA.  If you are interested in trying to get your product into a grocery store I would recommend contacting out MSU Product Center.  They can help you get your products into to grocery stores along with help with the licensing process.   Below is the link for contacting the MSU Product Center.
