Plants for shade and poor soil #877807

Asked July 18, 2024, 2:46 PM EDT

Could you recommend some plants for a shaded hill with extremely poor soil? The site struggles with topsoil erosion and also gets salt run off from the street. I recently removed buckthorn from the area. Chokecherry and motherwort have sprouted, but I have been unsuccessful in getting any intentional plantings to survive. Thanks!

I believe the answer to your problem is pachysandra.  I am giving you a link to information about this ground cover. It also lists four different varieties so read the descriptions.  Then head to your local full service garden center to check out what they have available. https://www.thespruce.com/japanese-pachysandra-pachysandra-terminalis-2132216
