YOUR QUESTION #0147717:
Vegetable garden
I used the wrong Preen in my vegetable garden. It was for weeds only. I thought it was a weed and feed. Will anything be edible?Ask Extension offers one-to-one expert answers from Cooperative Extension/University staff and volunteers within participating Land-Grant institutions across the United States.

Hi. I was able to take a few pictures. I also took one with the product we used. We spread a layer with dirt and then one more layer. I was to remove most of the second layer. I'm so sad and disappointed with myself.

There may be a second chemical as well but Preen makes it hard to find out what it is. A close well focused photo of the ingrediants label may help.
Half of this substance degrades in 60 days and half of that during the next 60 days. Use your veg garden for flours.
The ingredient for Preen for gardens is corn gluten. There is no evidence that this will benefit you. Skip it.
Often the best way to prevent weeds is to mulch under the plants.
Herbicides which are mainly broadleaf killers are very difficult to apply in gardens. Pre-emergent herbicidess which prevent germination will often prevent germination of crop seeds as well.

Isoxaben lasts 8 months.
You can plant food next season.
I suggest that you buy a good gardening book.
This is a popular one but there are many.

Do not treat any garden with any herbicides or pre-emergent herbicides. Those are for farmers.
Best to you
