What is the white bubble-like substance on my grass? #877762

Overnight, a patch of white bubble-like substance appeared in my yard on the grass. What is it? How can I get rid of it and keep it from returning?

This might be something called slime mold. Fortunately, it is not harmful and it can be removed with a strong spray of water from your hose.
