Balloon Flower - Half White/Half Purple? #877751

Asked July 18, 2024, 10:02 AM EDT

Looking for insight on balloon flowers. We’ve moved into our home 6 years ago. At that time, there were a few white balloon flowers along the sidewalk. Second year, a purple balloon flower appeared a handful of feet away. A few more purple appeared over the next few years. A split half white, half purple blossom has now opened up. I haven’t found anything similar online. Is this unusual? Image provided. I look forward to your reply.

Hi Judy,

Lucky you, that flower is beautiful. You have what sounds like a color mutation. That happens in nature....not really sure why.
