Grape disease #877640

Asked July 17, 2024, 1:56 PM EDT

Based on the attached photo's, can you tell whether my grape plant is infected with Guignardia bidwellii (Black Rot) or Anthracnose (Bird’s Eye Rot)? It's been especially rainy and the plant growth is dense (retaining moisture and preventing good ventilation). Thank you!

Expert Response

No, we can't diagnose the problem by viewing the photos. Symptoms of these diseases are similar and vary as they progress.

Laboratory analysis is needed to confirm or rule out the diseases you mentioned.  For a certain diagnosis, take or send samples of the affected leaves and fruit to the University of Minnesota Plant Disease Clinic.
