Concrete over tree roots #877623

Asked July 17, 2024, 1:06 PM EDT

An arborist said NOT to cut tree roots ahead of a concrete path installation. Can you suggest how to bridge over or contain roots? Any videos or photos would be helpful.

Expert Response

Thank you for your question.  I need a little more info before searching for an answer.  What kind of tree roots?  How close to concrete? Age of tree(s)?  A photo  would be helpful.  Do you know the depth of the roots you are concerned about? I can understand your concern.  Imagine investing in a path only having it broken by roots.

I sent these also to Lisa at the Chadwick. Tough to catch photos, but attached is what we’re dealing with. Path is about 6 feet wide. It’s a maple tree.
