Hey there I read a article regarding the Rail to Trail effort in the Santiam Canyon and part of the “Opal Creek Promise.” The story board was attributed to the Marion County Economic Development and OSU Extension Service. It is nicely done! I was curious is anyone could tell me or point me in the right direction any information regarding the old railroad easement that runs up the canyon? Specifically any details regarding Railway Avenue. Basically when was the easement purchased and abandoned? Who “owns” the easement now? How will the County deal with property owners whose land the easement is on? I am assuming that someone at OSU has a ton of information on the old railway and history..?
