Flea beetles #877581

Asked July 17, 2024, 9:25 AM EDT

I have just discovered what I believe are flea beetles on my natural tomato plants. They have numerous fruits, is it safe/effective to use berm oil or diatomaceous earth on the plants? Thank you very much.

Expert Response

Although flea beetles can seriously damage tomato seedlings and transplants, large plants usually tolerate them with no loss in production, so control isn't needed.

Otherwise, consider the information in the following publications. Reliable authorities sometimes recommend the products you mentioned to reduce flea beetle damage.  Other options are also discussed.
