Poison hemlock in my garden #877570

Asked July 17, 2024, 3:27 AM EDT

I have a weed in my garden in Rapid City that I think is poison hemlock. Luckily I ran it through a plant ID app. I initially thought it may be a carrot, but then realized it is not. I'm planning to pull it out wearing gloves and dispose of in trash. Just wondering if there is anything else I need to do. Thanks!

You could be right... so don't take the chance. Sounds like you have a good plan in place. If you have a way of digging it out so that the plant doesn't re-emerge from the tap root. Otherwise if it doesn't pull all the way out, you can hit it in the fall with a glyphosate product to kill it. but yeah, wear disposable gloves, and toss it in a plastic bag and then into the trash, and wash your cloths if you get any sap on you
