Based on your photos, especially the fruit, I would suggest this is a plum tree...maybe a Santa Rosa variety. Being a street tree, it has probably not been pruned for optimal fruit bearing (it is very tall and gangly!) nor sprayed for insect control. If you able to reach the fruit, either via a ladder or a basket-style fruit picker, enjoy it! Rinse well to get off any road dust or grime.
