Requesting identification of a plant #877278
Asked July 15, 2024, 11:21 AM EDT
The attached pictures show a plant growing in the Middle Patuxent Environmental Area right behind my property. It is growing along a stream bed. I would like to know what type of plant it is and if it is invasive. Thank you.

Expert Response
This looks like a type of Viburnum; some are native some are not.
A Maryland native Viburnum that looks similar is
Hobblebush (Viburnum lantanoides) which you can view here:

The non-native Viburnum plicatum, Japanese Snowball Viburnum is a possibility as well, and that one is non-native and invasive.
