grubs and mole control #877264

Asked July 15, 2024, 10:45 AM EDT

If we treat for grubs can we be sure this will eliminate moles? Does grub treatment have to be done every year to be effective?

Ramsey County Minnesota

Expert Response

Sorry to say, that will not eliminate moles.  Moles are meat eaters and will eat whatever critters they find in the soil including worms and the larvae of other insects.  Also, applying mole killers/repellents has to be timed.  Otherwise you are wasting your money and just applying chemicals unnecessarily to your soil.  https://extension.umn.edu/news/white-grub-control-lawns   https://extension.umn.edu/planting-and-growing-guides/how-trap-moles
