What’s wrong with my raspberry plants? #877040
Asked July 12, 2024, 8:21 PM EDT
A couple of my raspberry plants’ leaves are turning brown, starting in the middle. It is only on the old (currently fruiting) canes. The new canes still look very healthy. Is this a disease? Or just heat stress from the recent heatwave?

Hi Anna,
Thank you for using Ask Extension.
If the symptom is happening only on the floricanes (the older ones) I would consider it heat stress or normal lifecycle for the plant because those canes will naturally dieback over the rest of the summer while the bulk of energy goes to the new canes.
