Expert Response

Looks like Colorado Potato Beetle larvae. At this life stage, they are easy enough to handpick and throw in soapy water. There are also multiple predators of smaller colorado potato beetles. Insecticides can be used on the larvae. Any pyrethroids or neem oil can be applied.

If you have a high number of these beetles, consider crop rotation in the next season by not planting eggplant or potatoes in the nearby area.
