Hoe do I treat a tree with apple scab without endangering wildlife or my pets?

Rice County Minnesota

Expert Response

You don’t need to treat your tree.

Apple scab is mostly a cosmetic problem. You can prune out dead branches. Be sure to clean up all fallen leaves and fruit this summer and fall.

We are seeing a lot of apple scab this year. Your tree may come back perfectly fine next year, but be sure to do the clean up.
