Hello, we have a Japanese beetle infestation on our young chestnut farm that we just put in last season. We have about 600 trees and we sprayed with sevens last week but they’re still there and we’re worried that it’s going to kill the trees so we’re looking for some advice and help with us.

Hi There:
This is Erin Lizotte--I think we chatted on the phone but just in case I wanted to response here as well--if you have a commercial pesticide applicators license-a pyrethroid based product is the best approach--you can see a listing of the currently registered products by downloading the management guide at https://www.canr.msu.edu/chestnuts/pest_management/
If you are limited to homeowner or general public materials, then malathion based products are the best option available. Be sure to read and follow the instructions carefully.
Japanese beetle are notoriously difficult to control so don't expect 100% control. I hope this helps and those little tree make it!
